Happy Birthday Pearl!

Summer is just around the corner, and when that happens we know a special birthday is coming up! It is for one of our favorite semi precious gemstones, the pearl. Pearls are produced in pearl oysters and are part of calcium carbonate. Pearls come in many forms, such as; Black pearls (usually large black pearls produced in black oysters), Natural pearls (very rare), South Sea pearls (extremely large pearls used in necklaces and earrings), Mabe pearls (flat shaped pearls), freshwater pearls (small, shaped like rice), and cultured pearls (man made pearls). Pearls have been an exciting part of jewelry for many decades. These include the Art Deco and Victorian eras. Combined with other semi precious gemstones (including aquamarine, topaz and garnets) you have a match made in heaven! Pearls were used as beautiful accent gems for Art Deco engagement rings , and with stunning South Sea necklaces and earrings in the 1970's and 1980's. Our collection of pearl gemstones is always ethical and conflict free. Let's wish a happy birthday to our wonderful semi precious gemstone, the pearl!
Victorian Engagement Rings
Master jewelers from the Victorian era loved using pearls in their collections of Victorian engagement rings . They paired them with natural garnets residing in rosy yellow gold from the early 1900's, and it made a beautiful engagement ring. Our collection of alternative engagement rings include pearls, turquoise and garnets.

4 Art Deco Diamond Rings Like Scarlett Johansson's

Famous Hollywood stars, such as Barbra Streisand and Liz Taylor, loved Art Deco jewelry. Today's stars, like Scarlett Johansson of "Lost in Translation" and "Iron Man" fame, adore Art Deco rings as well. Scarlett Johansson has a beautiful Art Deco diamond ring which features a bezel set european cut diamond surrounded by single cut diamond accents completed with filigree engravings. Antique engagement rings are timeless and showcase glittering mine cut, and european cut, diamonds. They dazzle anyone who wears them. Vintage rings from the 1930's were produced by master jewelers who sat behind benches for weeks on end working on one of a kind pieces that simply can not be reproduced by today's computer simulations. Conflict free diamonds are illegally traded diamonds that were mined in Africa within the last 30-40 years. They are used to finance civil wars. Since all of our diamonds pre-date this time period, they are "conflict free." We never source any precious, or semi precious, gemstones, which may have been discovered while using underage children to dig up the earth's surface. Our gemstone engagement rings are ethical. It's a little known fact that when Hollywood stars start to wear something their adoring public won't be too far behind. Here are four vintage diamond rings and Art Deco dinner rings, like Scarlett's you will love!

Conflict Free Diamonds and Ethical Jewelry!

Today there is a lot of talk about conflict free diamonds and ethical engagement rings . VintageDiamondRing.com takes this very seriously, as we all should. Conflict free diamonds , or as some may call them "blood diamonds," are illegally traded diamonds that have been mined within the last 40-50 years. These diamonds help to finance wars in Africa, including Angola and Sierra Leone. VintageDiamondRing.com only curates antique engagement rings , and estate engagement rings, which feature antique diamonds that predate this time period. Our jewelry is completely conflict free and ethical. We do not source any diamonds, or gemstones. Sourced gemstones may be used to finance civil wars, which also entails digging up our precious earth by using underage children to mine them. We applaud the Kimberley process trying to curb blood diamonds, yet in our opinion, there isn't any fool proof way to guarantee your diamonds and gemstones are ethical and conflict free. We want to help save lives, and the earth. One important way to do that is by purchasing vintage jewelry. We have been doing that for over 30 years.
Conflict Free Diamonds
At VintageDiamondRing.com we believe the only way to guarantee a conflict free diamond is by curating beautiful vintage engagement rings from the past, including the Art Deco era. This stunning engagement ring features 3 glittering european cut diamonds flanked by vintage Burma gemstones, all residing in a platinum setting, circa 1930's. The only way to guarantee your antique engagement ring is ethical and conflict free is to buy an estate diamond ring. That is exactly what we do!

Sourcing Diamonds and Consignment

To source or not to source, that is the question! A big controversy today is all about sourcing, and ethical diamonds. Obtaining diamonds and gemstones has never been a problem in the jewelry industry. Sourcing diamonds and gemstones is not an exact science. No one, or any group, can say with 100 percent certainty that all the diamonds and gemstones they are marketing, and selling, are 100 percent conflict free. While most sites, and stores, may have their heart in the right place, they can not say that all of the gemstones and diamonds they offer are ethical. VintageDiamondRing.com does not source any diamonds or gemstones. Gemstones, and semiprecious gemstones, are almost impossible to track. In addition, they may have ethical questions. Our collection of antique diamonds (mine cuts, rose cuts and european cuts), gemstones, antique engagement rings, and vintage jewelry is always purchased from estates. Therefore, they are ethical. We don't sell any type of reproductions or "antique style" rings which use new diamonds or gemstones. Our collection of engagement rings include gemstones such as aquamarines, garnets, and opals from past eras such as the Victorian, Retro, Art Deco and Edwardian when there was war to finance, or any young children to force into labor.
Consignment
Being second generation antique jewelers, with over 35 years in the antique jewelry industry, you can say we were born into the antique jewelry business. VintageDiamondRing.com owns 100 percent of our collection of diamonds, antique diamonds, antique engagement rings, gemstones rings, and vintage jewelry.
