Antique Engagement Rings in Platinum

We love antique engagement rings. There is something so unique, and intriguing, about an antique engagement ring that's timeless and one of a kind. Master jewelers, decades and centuries ago, understood the value, versatility, and usefulness of platinum for engagement rings. Platinum is a soft metal which was used in making beautiful engagement rings featuring filigree and milgrain embellishments. Platinum was also a favorite residence for precious gemstones along with either a platinum or yellow gold box setting. We love gold, but there's something extra special about an antique engagement ring in gleaming platinum. Here are four platinum antique engagement rings you will love.

Four Stunning Radiant Cut Engagement Rings

In America, during the 1960's and 1970's it was a time of war and change. Master diamond cutters understood that better than anyone. The public loved pear cut diamonds (thank you Liz Taylor), and classic emerald cut diamonds were yearning for something more. Jewelers loved square cut diamonds but were still enamored with the brilliancy, fire and dispersion of round cut diamonds. So, they came up with the beautiful radiant cut diamond. Radiant cut diamonds are stunning! They are a fancy shape diamond that are rectangular in shape, yet have the wonderful faceting of a round cut diamonds with delicate cut corners. The great jewelry house, "Tiffany and Co." started an engagement ring line in the late 1990's using square cut diamonds called "Lucida Cut." They were popular for a time, but rectangular radiant cut diamonds are more coveted today. Our collection of radiant cut engagement rings is always conflict free and each will come with a GIA diamond report. We welcome you to view 4 beautiful radiant cut engagement rings .

Something Old, Something New, Borrowed and Something Blue!

I heard an old song today, and it reminded me of my favorite old radio station WNEW FM. Am I showing my age again!? Well, why am I writing about WNEW FM on an antique engagement ring blog? Because I remember a DJ on WNEW who had a segment called "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue." I think of the time honored tradition of brides to be trying to include these types of things in their ensembles on their wedding day. I also think of vintage rings, and how we can incorporate this. "Something old" is a a beautiful antique engagement ring. "Something new" could be an estate micropave ring. "Something borrowed," to me, is a beautiful vintage engagement ring, and "something blue" is a sapphire or aquamarine engagement ring. This wonderful saying means as much to brides, and antique lovers, today than it did in the 1970's or the 1930's. We welcome you to view our wonderful something old, new, borrowed and blue vintage engagement rings . Enjoy!
Something Old: Antique Engagement Ring
When i think of "Something Old" I think of a dazzling antique engagement ring, or maybe a stunning Art Deco engagement ring with sapphires. Something old would include a beautiful mine cut diamond with beautiful filigree embellishments, usually in platinum circa 1920's or 1930's.

VintagDiamondRing.com travels the world looking for pristine, original antique engagement rings . Every once in a while, during our travels (antique shows, vintage shops, or our offices in New York City), we will be shown a beautiful Art Deco engagement ring that we consider a "needle in the haystack." Please remember, beautiful vintage engagement rings do not have to have the biggest center diamond, or the biggest color gemstone as the focal point. We look for other facets of the ring, for example beautiful filigree embellishments, gemstones that do not have any treatments, or any Art Deco engagement ring that is in pristine condition. Original vintage rings are like pieces of art or, as we say in the jewelry industry, needles in the haystack. Our vintage rings are never computer simulated reproductions, which means all of our antique rings are ethical and conflict free. We invite you to enjoy 5 pristine vintage engagement rings that you will love!

Simple Engagement Rings

Websters dictionary states that the word "simple" means free from vanity or ostentation. However, when I use the word simple when describing antique engagement rings, or antique jewelry, this writer thinks of elegance and classic. A solitaire engagement ring is simple, yet it is classic, and with filigree embellishments it is very special and unique. Three stone engagement rings, and antique bezel set engagement rings, are also simple yet classic. Elegance will never go out of style. During The Victorian era Queen Victoria adored the simplistic, warm, and inviting, rose gold metal in the beautiful Victorian engagement rings. We all love mixed metal and estate engagement rings of the 1940's. VintageDiamondRing.com has a wonderful selection of half carat, one carat, two carat and, yes, three carat classic and simple engagement rings that are always ethical and conflict free! Antique Diamond Cuts

Two essential elements of antique engagement rings are the wonderful artistry of the past master jewelers, and the glorious antique cuts they used for their one of a kind a timeless works of arts. Beautiful antique cuts, used as center diamonds, include mine cut, old european cut, and in some instances rose cut diamonds . These antique cuts are, as we love to say, "sweet." They have less dispersion and brilliance, yet that's what makes them so special. They truly capture that time in history when things were simpler. Now with a resurgence of antique engagement rings, antique cuts have come back into prominence and are in high demand. Here is a list and description of our collection antique cuts.
Mine Cut Diamonds
Mine cut diamonds, or old mine cut diamonds , were the first antique cut diamond. They are the earliest form of the modern brilliant cut and date back to the early 1800's. Mine cut diamonds were shaped into a large and high crown, with a round to rectangular girdle, a deep pavilion, and a large faceted culet giving a less stated look. Fun Fact: Diamond cutters did not have the knowledge, or available machinery, to produce these so they were cut by hand. Mine cut diamonds were also very popular during the Victorian era.

Why We Love Art Deco Engagement Rings

Why do we love the words "Art Deco" or "Vintage?" There's nothing so special about these words, but maybe we love Art Deco engagement rings because of the beautiful filigree, milgrain or latticework that master jewelers used on these works of art decades ago. Or is it the journey, the stories and history these pretty antique rings have behind them having traveled all these years? Could it be that we love the beautiful look of mine cut and european cut diamonds, the simple elegance of them? Or the beautiful worn look antique engagement rings have after decades of enjoyment, like your favorite pair of worn in jeans!? It could be, but I think the reason we love vintage engagement rings so much is the symbolism these rings bring. One magic moment, when that special person in your life gives you that unique piece. A Vintage engagement ring is like an old friend who puts a smile on your face everytime you see them. At least that's what they do for me. I know every time I put my antique engagement ring on, I think of my mother who gave it to me. It takes me back to a time when she also loved wearing her ring, and I would watch, every time she put her ring on, the joy it brought to her face. Then she gave it to me, as I will give it to one of my girls. So go ahead, start your journey with a vintage engagement ring, or antique diamond ring, and I guarantee it will put a smile on your face. Every time you put on your antique engagement ring it will brings you back to that a special place. I welcome you to enjoy five beautiful Art Deco engagement rings!
Art Deco Engagement Rings
Art deco engagement rings don't have to have a large center diamond to be stunning. Art Deco engagement rings have beautiful filigree embellishments that are like pieces of art, or an old fine wine.
