Chatsworth House and the Jewelry They Wore!

Imagine the lives that were led centuries and decades ago! That's exactly what the fashion writer of The New York Times wrote about a few weeks ago detailing the great Chatsworth House in England. She covered the spectacular fashion worn over 5 centuries. With beautifully painted halls, and endless guilded staterooms, we could only imagine the antique jewelry and vintage rings that was worn to all the elegant balls and parties. What type of ruby or sapphire rings did they wear to the state balls!? Fashion was of utmost importance, but would would a wardrobe be without stunning Art Deco dinner rings and beautiful retro cocktail rings !? We can only imagine the beautiful gemstone engagement rings, large diamond rings, and Art Deco diamond brooches diamond brooches worn for five centuries at the Chatsworth ball. As Elizabeth Paton wrote "If walls could talk I wonder what the walls would say." So, let's have a little fun and view my 4 pieces of vintage jewelry I think the guests at Chatsworth House would have worn.
Art Deco Engagement Ring
The decade was the 1930's and Art Deco engagement rings were all the rage. We could just imagine the beautiful, and bold, Art Deco rings worn at the Chatsworth House.

Designer Engagement Rings

VintageDiamondRing.com loves traveling the world, trying to find beautiful antique vintage jewelry for our website. Sometimes, during this journey of curating vintage jewelry, we find what (we like to call) "needles in a haystack." These are pieces of designer antique jewelry produced from some of the finest, most renowned, jewelers the world has ever known. These jewelers include Tiffany and Co, Cartier, J.E. Caldwell , Oscar Heyman , Van Cleef and Arpels, Bulgari, Harry Winston and more. Many of these famous jewelers started out, in the late 1800's and 1900's, as single business owners with a goal to make beautiful jewelry. They specialized in all aspects of the diamond and jewelry business. Designer jewelry consists of engagement rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings, all in metals such as platinum, white, yellow and rose gold. Every piece of designer jewelry has a signature, or hallmark, from the specific jeweler identifying the company. These maker's mark signatures, on engagement rings, are stamped on the shank. Some jewelers will just use a number as their makers mark. If you are not able to determine if your piece of jewelry is a designer piece, you can send your jewelry to your jewelry shop and they should be able to confirm the mark We love vintage jewelry! Please enjoy our collection of designer jewelry everyone loves and may someday own.
Tiffany and Co
The most coveted designer is the great Louis Tiffany of "Tiffany and Co.". Louis Tiffany started his shop in NYC during the mid 1800's and still is a power jeweler today, selling beautiful engagement rings, silver, and perfume.

Earth Day 2017!

As I was having my up of coffee this morning, and put out my recyclables, I was thinking about Earth day this year. Earth day is April 22, 2017 and it really matters! There is so much each individual can do to protect our earth: protect the waters, the land, and the people who actually live on the earth. It doesn't matter who is in the presidential office, what matters is protecting the earth for our children and grandchildren. When a customer buys a piece of antique jewelry, or a vintage engagement ring, they are actually saving the earth and enriching lives. Buying an antique ring means no one is digging up the earth looking for more diamonds. No digging for dirty gold, and no one is using under age youth who should be in school. Not fighting wars in Africa. You are guaranteed that you are conflict free when purchasing antique diamonds, including european cut and mine cut diamonds. Give your children your antique rings and tell them stories they should know about their parents and grandparents. What journeys they have traveled. Let's spend a few minutes with our children to talk about about the importance of recycling. Please help save our earth! Enjoy earth day, with these 4 estate engagement rings we think you will love.

Rose Gold Engagement Rings!

Yesterday my husband surprised me with a present, a new Iphone 7! He chose the rose gold color, and I love it! It made me think of how popular rose gold is becoming. It's the new "go to" color. Why not!? Rose gold is warm, and inviting, and goes with everything. Rose gold is a mixture of copper and gold. It was the preferred gold of Queen Victoria during the Victorian era. Queen Victoria loved rose gold in jewelry with mine cut diamonds, emeralds, aquamarines and garnets. As decades passed, the popularity of rose gold waned. However, during the 1940's, master jewelers started using rose gold again and introduced it together with yellow gold. They created a rosy yellow gold. During the war, the government put a stop on the use of platinum. This is what led jewelers to using rose gold. When servicemen came home from the war, and got engaged, rose gold and rosy yellow gold were used as the metal for their engagement rings. These are the rings we still adore today. If you want a stunning rose gold engagement ring with a Burma ruby, or just a three stone Victorian engagement ring, rose gold is always and inviting and versatile metal. Enjoy these 5 rose gold engagement rings !

Art Deco Engagement Rings and Pearls!

It seems to me that one of the biggest fashion trends today is the pearl. The pearl celebrates its birthday every June, and is produced in pearl oysters. There are many types of pearls, including South Sea Pearls, Black Pearls, Freshwater pearls and Mabe pearls. The legend of the pearl is one of calmness and stability. Art Deco fans have loved pearls for decades and continue to do so. They love when a natural pearl stars in a beautiful platinum Art Deco engagement ring , as well as when pearls are used as accent gemstones in beautiful antique rings and gemstone engagement rings . Hollywood has been wearing gorgeous South Sea pearl necklaces for decades! We are so happy reading our favorite Bloglovin blogs, such as the one entitled "Take Aim and Atlantic -Pacific Blogs Touting the Wonderful Pearl Trend!" We love pearls and think this semi precious gemstone is classic and is here to stay! We welcome you to view five beautiful vintage rings with pearls!

Celebrity Engagement Rings- The Gemstone Aquamarine!

We always look towards Hollywood to see the latest fashions and, of course, what's hot in diamonds, gemstones, and antique engagement rings. When Hollywood stars wear a beautiful diamond, or gemstone, it won't take long for the public to want that particular piece of jewelry. When mega superstar Halle Berry showed the world her stunning gemstone engagement ring let's just say the world of gemstones has not been the same. Aquamarines are one of our favorite semi precious gemstones. They are part of the Beryl family of gemstones, known for their beautiful blue hues. The Aquamarine celebrates its birthday every March. The Hong Kong Diamond and Jewelry Show!

There are 3 important jewelry shows for the jewelry industry: the Miami Beach Antique Show, the Las Vegas Antique Jewelry Show, and the The Hong Kong Jewelry Show. These shows tell us where the prices of diamonds, and antique jewelry, is going for the upcoming year. One important aspect we look for (from the Hong Kong show) is which buyers are coming to the show? Will our friends from the Far East come, specifically China, India and Japan? What will they be buying? Will our friends from Europe, specifically Germany, England and Italy, come to this show? How about our friends from the Middle East? There is always a large contingency of American diamond dealers at this great show, but the major question is, "what diamonds will they be purchasing?" Here's the ditty on the Hong Kong show:
Who came to the Hong Kong Show
Our friends from the Far East came to the show, yet it seems that they aren't buying their signature diamonds, specifically colorless and near colorless diamonds with flawless and VVS clarities. Colorless diamonds (including D, E and F) with VVS and Flawless clarities are very soft today.

The Miami Beach Antique and Jewelry Show

Boy, time sure does fly! It seems like it was just yesterday when I wrote about how one of my favorite antique and diamond shows is the great Miami Beach show. In this writers opinion, there are 3 important antique and diamond shows: the Hong Kong show in September, the Las Vegas show in May, and the Miami Beach show. This year it seems like there is a change is in the air. This show is usually at the Miami Beach Convention Center. However, due to major repairs to the center, the show has been moved to the Miami Expo Center. Every dealer is waiting to see how this venue does for the next 2-3 years. With that being said, the Miami show is always a great show. It gives us a hint of the supply and demand in the antique jewelry industry, including Art Deco engagement rings and vintage engagement rings . For VintagediamondRing.com we are always looking for beautiful Art Deco diamond rings and vintage diamond rings for our shop. This show will also tell us where the demand is for GIA diamond engagement rings and loose GIA diamonds. Are our friends from the Far East, like India and China shopping for diamonds? If they are, are diamonds prices soft or strong? Are our friends from the Mid East buying large diamonds and fancy colors? We also want to see our European friends from Germany and Italy. We can expect to see great collections of antique furniture, Vintage posters, Vintage paintings, antique silverware and of course antique jewelry. We will also make sure to visit Joe's Stone Crab, and have our favorite crab legs and a glass of wine!

Dear Mr President and Congress

As you may know, VintageDiamondRing.com is an vintage engagement ring and antique jewelry website. One important factor facing our antique jewelry customers today is protecting, and saving, our earth. We take this very seriously, by only carrying ethical and conflict free jewelry. Our customers love antique engagement rings because of their beautiful filigree embellishments, but also because they are conflict free. They were produced before any of the terrible conflicts in Africa. Mr president, when people purchase vintage engagement rings that are conflict free, and there is no funding of wars, children will be able to stay in school and get an education instead of learning how to use a gun.

To Our Republican and Democratic Friends in Congress:
There seems to be a disagreement on global warming, and to what extent global warming is harming our earth. Our customers love Art Deco engagement rings. They understand that by purchasing Art Deco and vintage rings there is no digging for gold, or tearing up the beloved earth's surface. Therefore, there is no dirty gold being processed, which leads to cleaner environmental and water systems.

Mr. President, vintage engagement rings are always ethical when the center diamond is an antique diamond such as a Mine cut or European cut. When you purchase a estate ring you're being ethical and green!

To our friends in congress, our customers understand that precious gemstones (such as emeralds, sapphires, and rubies), and beautiful semi precious gemstones used Victorian, Art Deco and Retro settings will never be sourced by antique dealers. This will save our beloved earth. There really is only one choice, to choose an antique engagement ring and save the earth for our children and grandchildren. Mr. president and congress; the country does not want conflict. We want to save the environment.
Final thoughts
If you want to save the earth, buy only Antique engagement rings and Art Deco jewelry. Let's be ethical and conflict free. Thank you Tom Friedman of the NY Times.

Review Sites for Antique Engagement Rings

We had a customer purchase an antique ring from us a few months back, and he put a wonderful review for us on Yelp engagement ring reviews. We really don't go on to Yelp.com , or ivouch.com , to look at our reviews but this customer said they found us through these review sites. They also explained how after reading Yelp reviews, they negated a few sites, especially after they saw that the a website offered customers money to change their negative review. If you're a little bit uncomfortable with review sites, and don't know if a review is true or false, there are a few ways you can figure this out.

Yelp.com or Ivouch.com Reviews
We love Yelp.com and Ivouch.com ! These are two wonderful review sites for everything from antique engagement rings to great restaurants in every city. Yet, how do we know whats true or not!? One way to really find out, especially on Yelp, is to scroll to the middle and end pages to see more reviews. We've been told to check out all the reviews, not just on the first few pages!

Has The Company Improved!
If there are the same negative reviews, has the company taken care of them? Is the company trying to improve? Is a company condescending towards customers who don't want to spend a lot of money on an engagement ring? Are they treated the same as other customers who want to spend a bit more? Is there a time limit for fixing or sizing a ring? Does the company stand behind their product after the time limit is up? If you keep seeing the same complaints, this may be a sign to keep away from the site, or at least, let the buyer beware!

Do The Antique Diamonds have Certificates?
One way to protect yourself from fraud is to only buy an antique diamond that is accompanied by a diamond certificate. This could be a GIA, EGL, or AGI certificate.

Does the Company Own the Antique Engagement Rings?
You can usually find out if a company owns their own vintage engagement rings and Art Deco jewelry by asking how long the return policy is. If their policy only lasts upto 30 days, then they usually don't own the jewelry. You are probably paying an inflated price because the site has the jewelry on consignment.

Bad Customer Service
Every industry has to have excellent customer service. You can find out through various review sites (Yelp.com, Ivouch.com, etc) which companies have the best products, layaway plans and customer service. Here, at VintageDiamondRing.com, our top priorities are our antique diamond rings and customer service.
Final Thoughts;
VintageDiamondRing.com has been in the antique engagement ring and diamond business for over 35 years. We didn't come into the industry in the past 5 years! You can say we were born into the business, and are second generation. We own all of the vintage diamond rings and vintage jewelry on our site. We never take on consignment, we have excellent customer service, and have 60 days to return a piece of jewelry.
